MRRS (MINORITY RECRUITMENT &RETENTION SERVICES PROGRAM)

The Minority Recruitment and Retention Services (MRRS) division of this office is designed to work in close coordination with the Admissions Office and the Academic Advisement Center on the University of Florida campus. Off campus, the office seeks to work with minority high school and community college counselors to facilitate the admittance and enrollment of minority students into the University of Florida. Working with offices both on and off campus. MRRS assists in the admissions of minority transfer students into CLAS. All minority CLAS students needing assistance can be referred to this office which in turn is responsible for proper referral of students to the appropriate offices for special services not offered by OASIS.

MRRS is responsible for making academic support services available for the more than 3,000 minority students as well as minority faculty in CLAS. Though many are unaware, the minority students served in this division run the gamut from marginal to exceptional and from freshman to senior. Increasingly, and with favorable results, MRRS is able to focus attention on regularly admitted, non-scholarship minority students. Primary among the services offered are those that enrich the students' educational experiences at the university such as forums and panel discussions on topics pertinent to minority affairs, departmental societies, clubs and organizations, and those other activities and services which facilitate the students' successful matriculation at the university.
