Areas of Responsibility

  • Develop special programs related to the recruitment and retention of first generation and underrepresented students.
  • Develop new student transition and orientation programming.
  • Monitor student progress and implement follow-up advising and counseling.
  • Responsible for faculty and staff development, and programs to enhance the context of the university experience.
  • Participate in university-wide councils in support of diversity.
  • Organizing, directing, supervising and coordinating the support services activities for OASIS
  • Arranging and implementing support and enrichment services to first generation and underrepresented generation students housed in College of Liberal Arts and Sciences through SESP
  • Liaison with other university departments and support services in monitoring the academic and social progress of students
  • Coordinating academic workshops and learning experiences for CLAS first generation and underrepresented generation students
  • As CLAS computer contact, responsible for creating and updating CLAS accounts for email and Netware file and print sharing, adding department acquired computers to CLAS network, adding computer ethernet addresses to DHCP and maintaining up-to-date DNS information for departmental computers
  • Making support services available through SESP, to students admitted for participation in AIM program
  • Conducting surveys to evaluate the effectiveness of the services provided by the office, attending essential conferences, subscribing to scholarly journals, producing statistical reports and utilizing library and other resources to enhance the efficiency of the office
  • Serving as a mentor to incoming freshmen, providing them with counseling, advice and support
  • Teaching courses to assist in easing the transition from high school to college

Areas of Responsibility

  • Maintaining the Associate Dean's appointment calendar
  • Maintaining all office correspondence for OASIS
  • Assisting in monitoring fiscal activities within OASIS and in the implementation of financial transactions involving various office accounts
  • Assisting the Associate Dean in budget preparation and proposals
  • Organizing and regulating the activities of the office; counseling students periodically, informing them of services and assistance that are offered with OASIS and elsewhere
  • Compiling and organizing materials for various meetings and works closely with all CLAS Departments regarding the coordination of the College's Cultural Diversity Course
  • Preparing all exams, midterms, and finals for the courses taught by the Associate Dean
  • Placing all orders for textbooks
  • Responsible for handling all travel arrangements, state, national and international to various meetings and conferences, and processes vouchers for reimbursement and any other forms related to travel

Areas of Responsibility

  • Providing administrative and clerical assistance to the dean and program director in the planning and implementation of departmental goals and objectives via workshops, seminars and data collection and coordination of mail outs
  • Assisting in managing the  annual budget which includes concession funds, expenses, OPS accounts and college work study by maintaining accurate up-to-date bookkeeping records and monthly reports.  Purchasing all departmental supplies.  Maintaining office property inventory lists and prepares paperwork for transfers
  • Preparing and processing time cards, supplemental pay requests, emergency pay requests, retroactive pay requests and biweekly payroll certifications for State, OPS and CWSP employees.  Maintaining a record of all payroll related materials
  • Processing all documents necessary for the hiring of Graduate assistants, temporary OPS, OPS/CWSP employees and prepares new appointments for same.  Preparing faculty,  USPS, OPS, CWSP, and GA activities reports.  Preparing and processing forms necessary for computer networks access
  • Coordinating undergraduate employees work schedules.  Training undergraduate employees in office procedures and equipment usage

  • Communicating with university departments, school board districts, community agencies, and assisting the Parent Advisory Board with fund-raising events and program awareness activities.
